EXCITING NEWS from Auburn, WA!
On Sunday, February 23rd, Spinnaker won Best of Festival Award at Auburn Adventure Film Festival in Auburn, WA.
Jeff Ertz, editor of the film and composer of the score, was in attendance and proud to share his work with all who came. “It was an honor representing Red Thread in Auburn and being able to take home the Best of Festival Award among such beautiful short films. Auburn has a very supportive film community, and it was humbling to hear how touched they were by Spinnaker’s story,” says Ertz.
Spinnaker tells the story of the film’s namesake whale and the tragic life that she lived due to the threat of entanglement and pollution in our oceans. The Center for Coastal Studies tracked her from birth to death, as well as across three entanglement events. The film brings her harrowing story to the forefront by highlighting the work of a team of dedicated researchers and rescuers at the Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown, MA.
Congratulations to Spinnaker, Center for Coastal Studies, and the Red Thread Team! We are so honored by the award and the opportunity to have shared this beautifully heartbreaking story with the Auburn community.
